What is an Au Pair?
An Au Pair is a young person (usually aged between 18 and 30 years) coming from another country to help a family with childcare and light housework while staying as a guest with the family. The au pair receives pocket money. In addition she can improve her language skills and learn about the culture and lifestyle of the country.
Au Pair's Working Hours
Usually 30 hours plus 2 nights babysitting or 35 hours plus 1 night.
Free Time
Au Pairs should have Sundays free and one other day or two half days.
Pocket Money
€100 per week.
Duties
In addition to childminding your au pair will also assist with light housework (tidying, vacumning, preparing simple meals, laundry, etc).
Accommodation
The Au Pair will require her own bedroom, fully furnished with adequate heating, etc. A representative of SK Dublin will check the room for suitability prior to finalising the placement.
Background Checks
All our au pairs are interviewed in their home countries by our partner agencies and their suitability isassessed. In addition they provide two references, a police clearance certificate and a medical certificate.
Advice and Support
SK Dublin provides support and help to both families and their au pairs, including the agency's mobile telephone number. We can organise English classes and put the au pairs in touch with other au pairs in the area. In the event of the au pair being unsuitable, SK Dublin will offer you a suitable replacement as soon as possible.
